Our Team!

Imam Uddin

President

Imam Uddin is an experienced Employment Advisor with over two decades of diverse industry experience across settlement and employment agencies, international non-profit organizations, and media. Currently serving as a full-time Employment Advisor at TNG Community Services, Employment Ontario Programs, Imam brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his role.

Previously, Imam held positions such as Outreach Worker at Settlement Assistance and Family Support Services (SAFSS) in Toronto, and Senior Program Manager at Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB). Additionally, he is a Co-founder and the Founding President of Bengali Information & Employment Services (BIES), a charitable agency in Toronto, where he has played a pivotal role in its establishment and growth.

With a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Public Administration, along with a Diploma in Career and Work Counselling and Social Service Worker Program from George Brown College in Toronto, Imam possesses a strong academic foundation to complement his practical experience.

Throughout his career, Imam has demonstrated a passion for community development and has actively contributed to various non-profit agencies in Toronto. He has a proven track record of assisting more than 500 clients in finding employment and conducting workshops for thousands of individuals on a wide range of job-related topics.

Imam’s dedication to empowering individuals and fostering community growth underscores his commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of those he serves. With his extensive experience, skills, and passion for community development, Imam Uddin continues to be a valuable asset to the Toronto community.

Moshtaq Ahmed, CPA CGA, FCCA, MBA

Director, Strategic Initiatives

Moshtaq Ahmed is a seasoned Chartered Accountant and MBA professional with over 20 years of diverse experience spanning government, non-profit, and corporate sectors. Currently serving as a Senior Consultant at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), Moshtaq possesses a strong background in program management, project planning, strategic planning, and budgeting.

Before joining CIBC, Moshtaq held pivotal roles within the Bangladesh Government, serving in both the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Environment and Forest. In these positions, he played instrumental roles in financial governance and program implementation.

Beyond his professional commitments, Moshtaq is deeply engaged in community work and education. He has shared his expertise by teaching business courses at various universities. Leveraging his diverse background and extensive experience, Moshtaq guides individuals towards fulfilling career paths that resonate with their personal values and aspirations.

Moshtaq’s multifaceted skill set and commitment to making a positive impact make him a valuable addition to the Canadian Centre for Information and Knowledge.

Shamim Ara Begum

Coordinator, Settlement & Employment

Shamim Ara Begum epitomizes versatility, boasting a rich tapestry of professional experiences that seamlessly weave through finance, immigration consultancy, and mental health. Grounded in a robust educational background from esteemed institutions in Norway, she is a beacon of insight into the complexities of international dynamics.

Armed with a Diploma in Immigration Consultancy, Shamim embarked on her educational journey, culminating in a Master’s degree in Higher Education from Oslo University, Norway. She further honed her expertise with an M.Phil in Multicultural and International Education from Oslo University College, Norway. These academic pursuits have endowed her with a profound understanding of diverse cultural landscapes, equipping her with the tools to navigate the intricacies of global interactions with finesse.

Fluent in five languages, including English, Norwegian, Bengali, Hindi, and Urdu, Shamim effortlessly bridges linguistic divides, fostering connections across cultures. Her adept communication skills serve as a conduit for understanding and empathy in her multifaceted roles.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Shamim’s heart beats for community service, where her unwavering dedication shines brightly. Her commitment to uplifting others is complemented by a passion for gardening, a serene pursuit that mirrors her patient and nurturing disposition.

Mohit Islam

Coordinator, Health Services

Mohit Islam is a Health Service Specialist. He is a renowned physician in Bangladesh and has an experience of more than a decade with medical teaching experience in different fields of Neurology. Mohit teaches undergraduate and post graduate medical students as an Associate Professor of Neurology in Government Medical Colleges of Bangladesh.

Mr Mohit was a Consultant Neurologist in Lab Aid Diagnostic Ltd in Dhaka and also worked as a Consultant Neurologist in Diabetic Association of Bangladesh. He did his Bachelor in Medicine and Masters in Neurology from Bangladesh. He attended different Seminars and Workshops of Neurological disorder in different countries. Mohit is a member of World Movement Disorder Society and World Federation of Neurology.

Subrata Nath

Coordinator, Communications and Marketing

Subrata Nath is a seasoned communications and marketing specialist with over 20 years of experience in teaching, administration, communications, and marketing. His career began as a teacher in a government high school in Bangladesh, where he quickly progressed to roles including assistant headteacher, headteacher, and district education officer. Throughout his career, Subrata has demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovation, and a deep understanding of educational systems.

He holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Fine Arts from Chittagong University, as well as Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education, reflecting his dedication to educational excellence and creativity. Alongside his teaching and administrative roles, Subrata developed a passion for creating communication and marketing materials, blending his expertise in education with effective marketing strategies.

Driven by a profound sense of purpose, Subrata has chosen to dedicate his professional life to serving newcomers and vulnerable populations in Toronto. His vision is to empower individuals and communities through education, communication, and advocacy. With his diverse experience and unwavering commitment to social impact, Subrata Nath is poised to make a significant difference in Toronto’s diverse community.

Shusoma Sharaf

Coordinator, Women, Youth & Senior Services

 

Shusoma Sharaf is a Coordinator, Women, Youth & Senior Services in Canadian Centre. With a rich background spanning government, legal services, and non-profit sectors, Shusoma brings a wealth of specialized expertise to cater to diverse social needs.

In her pivotal role as Coordinator, Shusoma orchestrates a symphony of care, offering counseling, invaluable information, and seamless referrals. She thrives on building meaningful connections, bridging the gap between service users, community members, and partner organizations.

Shusoma holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the esteemed University of Dhaka, complemented by an MBA in Marketing from BRAC University. Her academic prowess is matched only by her unwavering dedication to serving those in need.

Dr. Kazi Hoque

Dr. Kazi Hoque is currently Board President of Bangladeshi Canadian Community Services. He was the Executive Director of Settlement Assistance and Family Support Services (SAFSS) since August 2002 to 2016. He has over 25 years’ experience in the academic and research institutions in Bangladesh, USA and Canada, including international development with the World Bank/USAID and the non-profit sector in Canada.

Dr. Hoque has held teaching appointments in various universities in Bangladesh, USA, and Canada, including an Associate and Full Professorship at the University of Chittagong and Green University of Bangladesh. He holds a Ph.D. degree from Purdue University, USA and an M.A. from Carleton University, Canada, in addition to a Masters and Bachelor of Honours degree in Sociology from the University of Dhaka.

Barrister Chayanika Dutta

Chayanika Dutta is a renowned Barrister, Solicitor and Notary Public in Canada. A practicing lawyer in Ontario, Chayanika Dutta completed her LLB (Honors) from Dhaka University, Bangladesh. She came to Montreal, Canada in 1982 to pursue higher studies at McGill University. Later in 1991, she has made Toronto her home. She has been continuously assisting financially many organizations and believes that one does not have to belong to any particular organization or to be a member of any particular group to make a difference. As a practicing lawyer, the values of Integrity, Dignity, Compassion, Responsibility and Reason is what she believes in and is as a person.

Alamgir Hakim

Mr. Alamgir Hakim is the CEO at Hakim Accounting & Tax Inc. He did his bachelor of Finance from the University of Texas and MBA from Angelo State University. Mr. Hakim has a passion for community development and has been involved in different non-profit agencies such as BCCS, Chittagong Samity in Toronto.
